ST. HELENA — Clinic Ole is expanding its facilities up and down the Napa Valley.

On Thursday, the clinic unveiled its new St. Helena home to serve the Upvalley. It will offer expanded services and hours as well as new equipment.

Earlier, Clinic Ole announced that it would build a new facility costing $22 million to $24 million in south Napa to serve a rapidly expanding client base looking for affordable medical services in the south county.

The new south Napa building will be twice as large as the north Napa clinic on Pear Tree Lane, which will remain in service. Clinic Ole also has offices in Calistoga.

The St. Helena health center at 1222 Pine St. includes two additional exam rooms. The clinic will be able to accommodate more providers and twice as many patients as the former Main Street location, officials said.

There is also room for a registered dietitian, behavioral health services and counseling, prenatal gestational diabetes counseling, and insurance information and enrollment.

The clinic will be open five days a week instead of four, with extended hours, including two evenings a week. Three new staff positions will also be added: one medical provider, a medical assistant and a receptionist. New equipment includes an exam table that automatically measures your weight and adds it to your chart.

"We are moving forward and not standing still with technology," said Clinic Ole CEO Tanir Ami. "We want to get one step ahead of health issues like obesity. We're using funds in the best possibly way."

Rep. Mike Thompson, Ami and Clinic Ole board members thanked the Napa Valley Vintners repeatedly for their generosity that made the new center possible.

Napa Valley Vintners give $331,000 to Clinic Ole to adapt an office building formerly occupied by Napa Valley Medical Group. The total cost of the St. Helena move was $371,800, the clinic said.

Clinic Ole has been in partnership with the Vintners for 30 years, and over that time the NVV have donated $24 million. Tanir also thanked board member Michael Chiarello for his support and presented him with a certificate.

With locations in Napa, St. Helena and Calistoga, Clinic Ole was founded in 1972. It operates as a 501c(3) with a sliding fee scale for low-income patients. About 2,000 people in St. Helena call the clinic their primary medical home.
