Step #3: How to begin the process of working with my staff on your case.

As a resident of the 1st Congressional District of California, you may contact my office to ask a caseworker on staff for assistance with a problem related to a federal government service.

I have caseworkers in my district offices who specialize in assisting constituents with problems.  My caseworkers work with several government agencies on a regular basis including the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, the INS, Small Business Administration, the IRS, Social Security Administration and Medicare.

It is possible that they may be able to assist with basic questions over the phone.

Find the phone number of the district office closest to you.

If your particular situation requires more than a simple telephone call, a caseworker may initiate a Congressional inquiry on behalf of a constituent in the form of a phone call or letter to an agency from the Congressman.

How We Can Help

Caseworkers are trained to assist constituents by cutting through a myriad of departments and phone numbers and can often direct people to the appropriate office, provide the necessary instructions, phone numbers and/or materials and check the status of an application or problem.

My caseworkers are happy to assist constituents by forwarding information to the appropriate sources during the adjudication process.  Please be advised that our office does not have the authority or ability to instruct federal agencies to approve or deny any applications.

To contact me by mail or in person, please click here for the appropriate information.

In certain cases, you may have to fill out a privacy form before my caseworkers can help you. To fill out a privacy form, move to Step #4.
