Thompson, Larson Meet with Solano County Social Security Leaders
Napa, CA – This week, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and House Ways and Means Social Security Subcommittee Chairman John Larson (CT-01) met with leaders on seniors’ issues from Solano County, including Elaine Clark of the Napa-Solano Area Agency on Aging and Sandy Hager from the Florence Douglas Senior Center. Thompson cosponsored Larson’s Social Security 2100 Act, a bill that would ensure the solvency of Social Security through the year 2100 and provide a two-percent benefit increase for seniors.
“Social Security is the bedrock of retirement security for millions of seniors across our nation, ensuring they can retire with the dignity they deserve. That’s why I cosponsored Congressman Larson’s bill to secure the solvency of this critical program for generations to come,” said Thompson. “It’s also why I was proud to welcome him back to our district today to discuss these issues with our local leaders and talk about what we are doing on the House Committee on Ways and Means to strengthen retirement security for our nation’s seniors.”
“Social Security is a lifeline for millions of Americans, that’s why we need to work to strengthen and enhance it. I’m glad I was able to join Congressman Thompson today to discuss our bill, the Social Security 2100 Act,” said Chairman Larson.
