Encourages CA-05 students to apply for nation’s military academies

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that his office is now accepting nominations to our nation's military service academies for students who live in California's Fifth Congressional District and are between the ages of 17 and 23. These schools include the United States Air Force Academy, United States Merchant Marine Academy, United States Military Academy at West Point, and the United States Naval Academy.

"Each year, it's my distinct honor to be a part of selecting our nation's next class of military leadership and hear the stories of the exceptional candidates who call our district home. I'm excited to announce that my office is now accepting applications for next year's selection process!" said Thompson. "All interested young men and women from our district should consider applying and I am deeply proud of all those who commit to serving our nation in uniform."

Students can now apply for the 2020 cycle and must complete their submission by Monday, October 14, 2019. Interviews of qualified candidates then occur in November and nominations will be submitted to academies for review in December. Students interested in applying can visit Thompson's webpage on academy nominations by clicking here or by calling Thompson's Santa Rosa District office at 707-542-7182 for application packets and further information.
