Vallejo Times-Herald - Thompson co-authors Social Security-saving bill
By Times-Herald Staff
A bill introduced this week and co-authored by U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson aims to "cut taxes for Social Security recipients, provide a benefit increase for current and future beneficiaries, and keeps the system strong for generations to come," Thompson's office announced.
Thomspon, who represents Vallejo and American Canyon, joined U.S. Rep. John B. Larson of Connecticut in co-authoring the ‘Social Security 2100 Act', HR 1391, his office said in a release.
"Social Security is one of our nation's most successful government programs, and this bill will help ensure its longevity" Thompson said. "With the measures laid out in this legation, we can both improve benefits while providing a tax break for seniors now and make sure Social Security remains strong for our kids and grandkids."
In the release, Larson says he's proud to announce this proposed law will ensure "Social Security will be there through the next century."
