Thompson Previews State of the Union Address, Announces Selection as Designated Survivor

Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement to preview President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address to Congress.

“Tonight, I hope to hear President Biden highlight the historic progress we achieved over the last two years,” said Thompson. “Starting with COVID-19 relief and vaccination efforts to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, we delivered on priorities that matter to the American people. That includes my GREEN Act which served as the foundation for the largest climate action investment in history.

“I am hopeful that President Biden will call for action to build on these successes. My colleagues on both sides of the aisle can come together to deliver on the issues that will strengthen our country and secure a safe and healthy future for every American.”

Rep. Thompson was selected by Leader Hakeem Jeffries to serve as the designated survivor for the State of the Union. He will watch the speech from an undisclosed location off campus.
