Thompson Statement on Shooting at Saugus High School

November 14, 2019

Washington – Today Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) released the following statement after a shooting at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California.

"Our hearts break for the students at Saugus High School and the families that will be forever changed by this tragic shooting. No student, no family, no community should ever have to go through this, yet this is far too familiar. Yet another reminder that it's long past time for Senate Majority Leader McConnell to stop blocking H.R. 8 and hold a vote on bipartisan legislation to help keep our communities safe from gun violence."

The Gun Violence Prevention Task Force was established after the tragedy at Sandy Hook and has grown to a membership of more than 165.
