Washington, D.C. -- Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement in response to the House's passage of the Affordable Care Act premium tax credit extension:
"I voted YES on extending the Affordable Care Act enhanced premium tax credits because we need to lower health care costs. Democrats fought to bring this extension to the floor for months, and it was our pressure that forced 17 Congressional Republicans to work with us and pass this bill in the House today. I urge our Senate colleagues to pass this bill to protect health care.
Washington – Today, House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chairman Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement marking 15 years since the shooting in Tucson, Arizona that targeted former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. Six people were killed and 14 others were injured, including Giffords.
President Trump has launched what legal experts say is an illegal military action against Venezuela. Decisions regarding military force when there is no immediate danger to the United States must involve Congress. That’s why I voted in support of the NDAA, which reins in the president’s ability to make unilateral military decisions.

Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement today in response to Speaker Johnson’s announcement that he will not hold a vote to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits that 24 million Americans use to afford health care. Without renewal, these tax credits will expire at the end of the year and families will pay double for their health insurance premiums in 2026:
