Napa, CA – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) formally announced Madelene Lyon as this year's Woman of the Year in Lake County. In February, Thompson accepted nominations from across the Fifth Congressional District for his annual awards honoring women who make an impact in our community. After careful consideration, Lyon was selected for her work with the Kelseyville Food Pantry, Redbud Audubon Society, and other charities.

Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Paul Cook (CA-08) introduced the Earthquake Mitigation Incentive and Tax Parity Act of 2017 to exclude incentives for residential seismic retrofits from federal taxation. These earthquake mitigation measures are already tax-free at the state level in California.

Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) joined Vice President Joe Biden and House Democrats in a press conference to highlight the impact and success of the Affordable Care Act. Seven years ago today, President Barack Obama signed the landmark healthcare bill into law, giving more than 20 million previously uninsured Americans access to the care they need and deserve.

Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) called for improvements to low-income housing tax credits, which encourage property owners and private investors to invest in affordable housing. Tax credits are awarded to developers, who then use them for affordable housing projects that otherwise would not be profitable because of low rents. Thompson cosponsored the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act of 2017, which reforms these credits to increase access to affordable housing.

Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Anna Eshoo (CA-18) reintroduced the Fair Access to Health Care Act, legislation to expand the eligibility for premium tax credits for people living in high-cost areas who purchase health insurance through the federal and state exchanges set up by the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
