Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-5) today announced a $1,975,339 Emergency Relief (ER) grant for the repair or reconstruction of federal-aid highways and roads on federal lands that have suffered serious damage as a result of the Valley Fire. The funds come from the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

Mike Thompson (CA-5), Chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, today filed a discharge petition to bring H.R. 1076, the Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2015, to the floor for a vote. For a discharge petition to be successful, a majority of the House must sign it.

The letter urges the president to close the background check loophole through executive action.
