Washington – Today House Ways and Means Select Revenue Measures Subcommittee Chairman Mike Thompson (D-CA), Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY), Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), Rep Tom Rice (R-SC), and Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY) announced the introduction of H.R. 2213, a bill that permanently extends the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) to help certain disadvantaged groups – including public assistance-dependent individuals, qualifying veterans, and persons with a physical or mental disability, among others – find permanent employment.
Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded more than $1.4 million to the Santa Rosa City Schools to help rebuild the Hidden Valley Satellite school and Alba Lane Farm, an educational farm used by Santa Rosa High School. These funds were awarded as part of Public Assistance for the October 2017 declared disaster.
Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05), who serves on the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health, voted to advance out of committee H.R. 2113, the Prescription Drug Sunshine, Transparency, Accountability and Reporting (STAR) Act. This bipartisan legislation is a combination of bills intended to promote and expand transparency in drug pricing, including requirements that manufacturers justify large, rapid price increases.

Washington – Today Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that a record 188 Members of Congress have signed his letter to appropriators requesting strong funding for the National Instant Background Checks System (NICS). Members from both parties are requesting $100 million in funding for grants to states to upgrade systems and other important maintenance of the system. Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05), Chair of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures and Rep. Mike Kelly (PA-16) announced the introduction of the Charitable Conservation Easement Program Integrity Act of 2019. This bill is designed to curb abuses of the conservation tax incentive program that allows taxpayers to take a charitable deduction when they donate lands for public use and conservation.
