Congressman Mike Thompson's (CA-1) website was named one of the best on Capitol Hill today and given a “112th Congress Gold Mouse Award.” The award was given by the Congressional Management Foundation (CMF), a nonpartisan nonprofit working to improve communications between citizens and Congress and enhance operations in Capitol Hill offices. CMF has assessed and graded congressional websites and issued these awards since 2001. Thompson was one of only 14 House Members to receive the “Gold Mouse Award.”

Congressman Mike Thompson (CA-1) and four other Northern California Members of Congress are demanding answers on the current state of the Bay-Delta planning process and calling on the Interior Department today to rescind a “flawed” Memorandum of Agreement that was developed behind closed doors and that gives water export agencies south of the Delta and in Southern California unprecedented influence over an important public process concerning California's precious fresh water supplies.

Jay Ottolini was glad to hear U.S. troops were pulling out of Iraq.
The retired Santa Rosa truck driver, whose younger brother Mike was killed by a roadside bomb in 2004, said the U.S. never should have been there in the first place.
“It's been hard,” said Ottolini, who has a tattoo tribute to his brother on his left shoulder. “I hope they bring them all back.”
Military families and elected officials across the North Coast expressed relief at President Obama's announcement Friday that all troops would be withdrawn from Iraq by year's end.

In a rare display of frustration with the Obama administration, California House Democrats on Wednesday assailed the White House for not doing more to address the foreclosure crisis.
"They don't get it,"Rep. Dennis Cardoza of Atwater said at a Capitol Hill news conference. "The administration has simply not done a darn thing to help my constituents."
"Everything to date, as well intended as it may have been, has not provided the assistance that we need," added Rep. Mike Thompson of St. Helena.

Congressman Mike Thompson (CA-1) today joined 32 members of the California Democratic Congressional Delegation in sending a letter to President Obama urging him and the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) to act immediately to address our country's troubled housing market. More than 2 million homeowners in California owe more on their homes then their homes are worth, which equals 30 percent of all California homes with mortgages.
