I voted against the tax cut "deal" last night. It takes money from Social Security putting at risk the future of a federal program that most every American relies upon. It increases taxes on the working poor and puts $1 trillion dollars on the nation's credit card, adding to our national debt.

A large bloc of House and Senate Democrats rallied behind a Treasury Department plan for renewable energy Thursday, bolstering the chances of the cash grant program being extended in the tax cut package.

Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., said the program was added to the tax package, while cautioning it was not a done deal. The office of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., confirmed the provision was included.

Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., said of the grants, "I hope that they will be in there and I believe they probably will."

WASHINGTON- Today, the House of Representatives passed the Continuing Resolution which includes the necessary provision to restore geothermal royalties to local counties. Geothermal production requires counties to provide increased public services, such as police patrols, and requires increased maintenance of public goods, such as roads. Geothermal revenue sharing provides a funding stream to allow local governments to support these necessary community services.

WASHINGTON - Last night, the Senate unanimously passed legislation authored by Congressman Mike Thompson (D-CA) to rename the Eureka post office. This bill, H.R. 6387, designates the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 337 West Clark Street in Eureka as the "Sam Sacco Post Office Building". The bill was first passed by the House of Representatives on November 16th. This bill will now go to the President to be signed into law.

WASHINGTON- Last night, the Senate unanimously passed legislation authored by Congressman Mike Thompson (D-Napa Valley) to rename the downtown Napa post office. This bill, H.R. 6237, designates the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 1351 2nd Street in Napa as the "Tom Kongsgaard Post Office Building." The bill was first passed by the House of Representatives on November 16th. This bill will now go to the President to be signed into law.

Team Andrews Airmen from medical-related career fields reported to the Cannon House Office Building, Washington DC, in full service dress to meet with U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson Nov. 17.

The meeting was scheduled by Congressman Thompson after he sponsored a U.S. House of Representatives resolution that was passed on Sept. 28 honoring all Airmen who support and perform aeromedical evacuation. Part of House Resolution 1605 "commends the personnel of the Air Force for their commitment to the well-being of all our service men and women."
