Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) released the following statement after the Supreme Court released a decision stripping states of the right to set sensible firearm rules. New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen concerns a New York state law that requires anyone who wants a license to carry a concealed handgun to show "proper cause" for the license.

Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to pass H.R. 6538, the Bipartisan Active Shooter Alert Act. This bill would create an AMBER Alert-style system allowing law enforcement to alert the public of nearby active shooters. Rep. Thompson is an original co-sponsor of H.R. 6538.

Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to pass H.R. 2773, the Recovering America's Wildlife Act (RAWA), a bipartisan conservation bill that will amend the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Act and provide $1.3 billion to assist in conserving, restoring and protecting wildlife and wildlife habitat in California, territories, Tribal lands, and other states across the nation. This legislation is one of the most significant investments in wildlife and habitat conservation in a generation.

Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to pass H.R. 7776, the Water Resources Development Act of 2022, legislation that will authorize crucial investments in America's ports, inland waterways, flood management systems, ecosystems, and other water resources infrastructure. WRDA 2022 will support our local economy and keep California competitive, while carrying out projects in an environmentally and socially responsible way.
