Washington – Today House Ways and Means Select Revenue Measures Subcommittee Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to pass the Build Back Better Act, historic legislation that invests in families, workers, the economy and tackling climate change. The bill includes Thompson's GREEN Act, sweeping legislation to tackle climate change by providing tax incentives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Vallejo Chief of Police Shawny K. Williams announced that the Vallejo Police Department has been added to the White House Domestic Policy Council's Community Violence Intervention Collaborative. Thompson wrote to the White House in October asking that the Department be added to help support local officials as they address gun violence and reduce crime.

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to pass H.R. 5305, a critical government funding bill that includes his bill to reauthorize and fund the Wildfire and Hurricane Indemnity Program Plus (WHIP+) for 2020 and 2021 natural disasters. Thompson led the introduction of the WHIP+ Reauthorization Act in January 2021 and has championed it since, as he works to assist people in his district hit hard by the LNU Lightning Complex and Glass Fires in 2020.

Washington – Today Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Vice Chair Kathleen Rice (NY-04) submitted an Amicus Brief to the Supreme Court in support of New York's "proper cause" concealed carry law, the New York state law that passed over 100 years ago in 1911 which established the standard for acquiring a concealed carry permit. They were joined by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and 129 Democrats in their brief to the court that cited the need for this law to help prevent gun violence.

Thompson, whose district was hit hard by the LNU Lightning Complex and Glass Fires in 2020, first introduced his legislation in January 2021. The bill would reactivate the WHIP+ program, a critical lifeline for agricultural producers whose crops were ruined by smoke.
