Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) released the following statement on the passing of former California Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher.

"Ellen Tauscher was a good friend and an incredible public servant, someone who represented her district well for many years and served honorably in the State Department under President Obama. I was honored to work with her and know she will be greatly missed by our state and our nation."

Washington – Today Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that $25 million for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to research and study gun violence has been included as part of the FY2020 Labor-HHS appropriations. Chairman Thompson released the following statement in reaction to the news.

Napa, CA – This week, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and House Ways and Means Social Security Subcommittee Chairman John Larson (CT-01) met with leaders on seniors' issues from Napa County, including Supervisor Brad Wagenknecht, Heather Stanton of Napa County Commission on Aging, Seniors' Advocate Betty Rhodes, Kris Brown of CSOA, and Celine Regalia of Collabria Care. Thompson cosponsored Larson's Social Security 2100 Act, a bill that would ensure the solvency of Social Security through the year 2100 and provide a two-percent benefit increase for seniors.
