Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) led a letter requesting the Department of Defense be required to only purchase American flags made in the United States. This letter was signed by 46 Members of Congress from both parties and text is included below.
Washington – Today Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that a record 188 Members of Congress have signed his letter to appropriators requesting strong funding for the National Instant Background Checks System (NICS). Members from both parties are requesting $100 million in funding for grants to states to upgrade systems and other important maintenance of the system. Mike Kelly (PA-16) announced the introduction of the Charitable Conservation Easement Program Integrity Act of 2019. This bill is designed to curb abuses of the conservation tax incentive program that allows taxpayers to take a charitable deduction when they donate lands for public use and conservation.

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Rep Jared Huffman (CA-02) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has granted an extension for the Direct Temporary Housing Program which provides affordable housing for home owners and renters who had their homes destroyed in the October 2017 fires. Thompson and Huffman wrote to FEMA asking for an extension earlier this month.
