House passes bill celebrating UC Davis

The U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution introduced by Rep. Mike Thompson to congratulate UC Davis, on its 100th anniversary.Thompson's bill (H.Res. 448) recognizes and thanks the University for its important contributions to local communities, the state and nation.
The University was authorized by Governor George Pardee in 1905 and opened the doors to its first class in 1908. In 1959 the Regents of the University of California elevated UC Davis to a general campus within the University of California system. Today, it has a student body of over 30,000 and more professional schools than any other UC campus. It is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities, which includes the top 62 research universities in our country, and UC Davis brings in over $600 million annually in grant funding.
