Angwin residents will celebrate the arrival of broadband technology to its community by hosting a public ceremony, featuring local elected officials and dignitaries on Sunday.

Comcast is extending advanced technology services to the small unincorporated community in the hills east of St. Helena.

Pacific Union College and Comcast partnered to replace the college's insufficient communications infrastructure and antiquated copper lines with an advanced fiber optic network. The project also brought high-speed broadband Internet, digital phone service, dozens of new TV channels and On Demand viewing services to the residents of Angwin.

Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, will be a featured speaker. The event will also feature, music, food and raffle prizes.

The ceremony will be at 1:15 p.m. in conjunction with the Angwin Community Flea Market runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
