Napa Valley Register: Rep. Thompson helps constituents recover $1.6 million
Rep. Mike Thompson announced that his office has recouped more than $1.6 million owed to residents of the Fifth Congressional District by federal agencies in 2016, including more than $300,000 for Napa County residents.
“Providing first-rate constituent services has always been a top priority,” said Thompson. “I’m proud to announce that my office has been able to help residents of our Congressional District recoup over $1.6 million owed to them by federal agencies like the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs among others, including over $300,000 for Napa County residents."
Thompson can assist individuals, nonprofits and businesses in the Fifth Congressional District to navigate and resolve issues with federal agencies, including: the Social Security Administration, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Department of State and the Department of Defense.
In Napa County, Thompson helped constituents recoup more than $239,000 from the IRS in the form of delayed refund checks, more than $20,500 from the VA in the form of benefits and retroactive payments, $25,000 from the Social Security Administration in the form of a back payment, and over $43,000 from FEMA for disaster assistance.
