North Coast Congressman Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, has deemed his telephone town hall meeting held last Wednesday a success.

More than 9,100 constituents of California's 1st Congressional District called in, many of them getting to question Thompson.

”While telephone town halls are no replacement for in-person events, it was a great opportunity to hear from our community,” Thompson said in a press release.

”To see this many people who truly care about our district and our country is inspiring,” Thompson continued in the release. “We are facing some tough times, but the energy and involvement of our district is evidence that the American people will overcome these challenges. I look forward to continuing these discussions with in-person town halls throughout our district.”

Due to the extremely high number of callers, Thompson said he will respond in writing to 200 voicemails left by call participants who were not able to ask their questions during the hour-long forum.
