Congressman Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, announced Friday that his district offices in Eureka and Woodland will participate in the third annual Feds Feed Families food drive to benefit local food banks.

According to a press release, food banks are most in need of donations during the summer months, when other donations are traditionally lower. Residents can drop off food and other non-perishable goods donations at any of the congressman's district offices through Aug. 31.

Thompson's Eureka office is at 317 Third St., Suite 1. Office hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Feds Feed Families is a government effort led by the Chief Human Capital Officers Council in partnership with the Office of Personnel Management, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Feds Feed Families collected 1.7 million pounds of food last summer.
