June 29, 2012
Congressman Mike Thompson (CA-1) today released the following statement on the passage of a bill that keeps need based Stafford student loan interest rates from doubling from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent:

“Our nation must continue producing the world's best entrepreneurs and innovators to remain competitive in our global economy. And the key to our nation continuing to produce the world's best entrepreneurs and innovators is making sure a college education is an affordable option for working families.

“Moving forward, we have to continue working across the aisle to do everything we can to make higher education a realistic and affordable option for any student who chooses this path.”
