THOMPSON PRESENTS $850,000 CHECK TO WINTERS JOINT UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO MODERNIZE AGRICULTURE EDUCATION SITE

Winters, CA –Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) presented an $850,000 check to the Winters Joint Unified School District to complete the Agriculture Site Modernization and Deferred Maintenance Project. 

“Proud to have secured $850,000 for Winters Joint Unified School District to update their Agriculture Site,” said Thompson. “This funding will ensure the safety and long-term viability of this site, allowing students to receive high quality, hands-on training for years to come. As one of the only school districts in California with projected enrollment growth, investment in this site is crucial for future success. Thank you to our local leaders who helped identify the need for this funding.” 

The funding will go to the Winters Joint Unified School District to complete the Agriculture Site Modernization and Deferred Maintenance Project. The Ag-Site is a vital hub for agricultural education and workforce development, offering hands-on training in welding, woodworking, floral design, livestock management, and more. To ensure the safety and long-term viability of this site, critical facility upgrades are needed to enhance learning conditions and expand community engagement.

The funding for this project is part of the $14,351,487 secured this year by Thompson for community projects in our district.

Each year, Members of Congress may direct federal funding to a limited number of community projects through the appropriations process. Under this program, each House member may submit a limited number of requests on behalf of their district for competitive review by the House Appropriations Committee. Projects selected for funding must meet strict transparency and accountability requirements before being included in federal appropriations legislation.
