Contra Costa County, CA – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) formally announced Tranzena “Kandie” Jones as this year’s Woman of the Year in Contra Costa County. Each year, Thompson honors women from the Fifth Congressional District who make exceptional contributions to our community.

“Kandie served our nation in uniform and then continued to serve her fellow veterans when she returned home. Her work is tireless and our entire community is better for her dedication to her work,” said Thompson. “For her lifetime of service in uniform and here in our community, I am honored to recognize Kandie as the 2019 Contra Costa County Woman of the Year.”

This is the fifth annual Women of the Year Awards, started in honor of Women’s History Month. Each year, Thompson recognizes one woman from each of the counties in our district to be recognized for her service to our community.
