May 2, 2019

Bill ensures U.S. stays in Paris Climate Agreement

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted in favor of H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act. This bill makes certain the United States meets the standards outlined in the Paris Climate Agreement and requires the Administration to take further steps to meet pollution reduction goals. Thompson released the following statement after his vote in favor of this legislation.

"If we do not address climate change with bold and immediate action, we will not have the same world to pass on to future generations. That's why today I voted for the Climate Action Now Act, legislation that takes important steps forward in this goal," said Thompson. "This bill would block the President and his Administration from withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement and call on him to make a public plan for how our nation will meet the pollution reduction goals outlined in that agreement. Our nation's leaders have an obligation to join nearly every other nation in the world in combatting this crisis head on and with every tool possible."
