Congressman Mike Thompson (CA-05) will host a community discussion on concussion identification and prevention. The meeting will be on Wednesday, February 20th. More than 3.8 million sports and recreation-related concussions occur in the U.S. each year. Concussions and head injuries are happening with greater frequency each year across all sports.

U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, said he backed President's Obama's priorities in Tuesday night's State of the Union address -- particularly the President's focus on Democrats and Republicans working together to put the needs of the country first, before partisan politics.

Imagine if it were the Transportation Security Administration's policy to let four out of 10 people bypass security at the airport. And imagine if TSA let passengers choose whether they'd go through security. Federal law prohibits this because if it didn't, criminals, terrorists and others who are intent to do harm would easily slip through the cracks and board any plane they wanted.

Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, announced Thursday a comprehensive set of policy principles for reducing gun violence. The 15-point plan was a product of public hearings and deliberations by the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, chaired by Thompson at the request of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) today announced that he will host Elvin Daniel of McHenry, Illinois as his guest at the State of the Union on Tuesday night. Elvin's sister, Zina Daniel, was shot and killed by her husband inside the Azana Salon and Spa in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Two others were killed and four were injured in the shooting.
