Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling narrowing the power of district court judges to issue nationwide injunctions blocking federal government policies, including the President’s order to end birthright citizenship:

“The Supreme Court's ruling today will fundamentally change how Americans can get immediate relief from unlawful and unjust actions. Everyday Americans should be afforded protections while cases go through our legal system.

Mike Thompson (CA-04) led a formal letter to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson urging him to reconvene the House of Representatives so Congress can be thoroughly briefed on the evolving situation in the Middle East and fulfill its Constitutional responsibilities related to any potential authorization of military force. This letter comes following statements from President Trump indicating the United States is seriously considering military action in Iran.
