Napa – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that local judges have selected Emma Chen from Maria Carrillo High School in Sonoma County as the 2021 Art Competition Grand Prize Winner for her piece Hotpot. Her artwork will be displayed in the United States Capitol for the next year and a photograph is attached.

Washington – Today Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Leadership of the Task Force wrote to President Biden asking him to prevent the publication of the online files that allow people to 3-D print firearms at home. They urged him to maintain the controls that have previously prevented a release of these files, citing the urgent need to prevent further printing of these untraceable firearms. Napa – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced the opening of the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, Federal relief for local restaurants hit hard by the pandemic. This program was created by the American Rescue Plan that Thompson voted to pass this Congress and included key provisions from the RESTAURANTS Act, which Thompson also coauthored last Congress.

Typically, Members of Congress can invite one guest to view the speech in the House gallery but this year, those invites are ceremonial due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) along with Representatives Anna Eshoo (CA-18), Doris Matsui (CA-06), John Garamendi (CA-03), Jared Huffman (CA-02), Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11), Ro Khanna (CA-17), and Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) introduced the Utility Resilience and Reliability Act, a bipartisan bill to make the national energy grid more reliable and resilient to natural disasters and extreme weather events.
