Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to pass H.Con.Res 11, a bill establishing a Congressional Budget for fiscal year 2021 and paving the way for a COVID relief package to be negotiated and passed by Congress in the coming weeks. A statement from Thompson is below.

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced the introduction of a bill to officially rename the post office located 502 East Cotati Avenue as the "Arthur Luis Ibleto Post Office Building". Art Ibleto was a famed member of the Sonoma County food and wine community known as the Pasta King and was an incredible leader in local charitable, educational and civic causes.


February 1, 2021

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Rep. Dan Newhouse (WA-04) announced the introduction of the bipartisan PHONE Act. This bill allows survivors of natural disasters who lost their homes to keep their phone numbers while they rebuild and at no cost to them. When homes are destroyed, landline phone service may need to be disconnected. If a phone is disconnected too long, the service provider is required to return the phone number to a pool so the number can be assigned to other customers.

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Rep. Jared Huffman (CA-02) released the below statement denouncing their colleague Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene's endorsement of a false conspiracy theory speculating that the 2018 Camp Fire was intentionally started by a group of wealthy Jewish backers. Thompson and Huffman both represent districts that have been hit hard by some of the worst fires in California history over the past few years.

Washington – Today Ways and Means Select Revenue Measures Subcommittee Chairman Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05), Rep. Mike Kelly (PA-16) Rep. Jimmy Panetta (CA-20), and Rep. Steven Horsford (NV-04) announced the introduction of the Keeping the Lights on Act. This bipartisan bill provides Federal support to small businesses to help them pay essential fixed costs, such as rent or utilities, during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Rep. Mike Kelly (PA-16) announced the reintroduction of the Access Technology Affordability Act, a bill to ensure that blind people can afford the high-cost access technology that helps them participate in the workforce. The bill creates a refundable tax credit for blind individuals to buy things like screen readers and Braille embossers which are not normally covered by insurance that individuals need to participate in every day workplace tasks.

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Napa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District Board of Directors Supervisor Brad Wagenknecht and Napa Mayor Scott Sedgley announced that the Napa River Flood Project has received $48.3 million in funding from the Army Corps of Engineering Fiscal Year 2021 Work Plan to complete the Napa River Flood Project. Thompson has long worked to bring back Federal resources to complete the project, including months of conversations with the committees of jurisdiction.

This bipartisan bill addresses mental health care gap for seniors by expanding the network of provider that can deliver mental and behavioral health services to Medicare beneficiaries.
