Rep. Mike Thompson Statement on Fiscal Cliff Legislation
January 1, 2013
U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-01), a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee released the following statement on his vote in favor of the bipartisan agreement to avert the fiscal cliff.
“This legislation is far from perfect but it's better than the falling off the fiscal cliff. Doing nothing would have sent our economy into a tailspin and triggered another recession. Now that we have done what was needed to avoid the fiscal cliff, it's time to focus on what should have been our priority all along: getting Americans back to work and getting our fiscal house in order.”
Congressman Mike Thompson is proud to represent California's 1st Congressional District, which includes the Counties of Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Sonoma, Napa, and Yolo. He is a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Rep. Thompson is also a member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition and sits on the bipartisan, bicameral Congressional Wine Caucus.
