During the rest of the month of July, Congressman Mike Thompson (D-CA) will feature art selected from the recent National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)-Yolo Sunflower Art Competition at his district office in Woodland. The primary goal of the popular annual exhibit, which is sponsored by NAMI's Yolo Chapter, is to educate the community about mental illness and reduce its stigma.

Bipartisan message calls for rejection of proposed health-care cuts that threaten jobs, access to skilled nursing care
The California Association of Health Facilities (CAHF) today praised Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Napa) for his support of the bipartisan letter to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), as the federal health agency considers a proposal that would cut Medicare reimbursement to skilled nursing facilities immediately by 12.8 percent for fiscal year 2012.

Today, Congressmen Mike Thompson (D-CA) announced that the interest rate on subsidized student loans will be cut to 3.4% on July 1st - the last of four steps to cut this interest rate in half over four years under the 2007 College Cost Reduction and Access Act. Due to these cuts, the typical student borrower who started college in 2008 will have saved $2,570 over the life of their loan.
