Congressman Thompson will host an in-person town hall meeting on health care reform Wednesday, September 2, 2009, from 5:30 - 6:30 pm. The forum will be held at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds, Home Economics Building, 3750 Harris Street, in Eureka. All constituents are invited to attend, seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously approved the Northern California Coastal Wild Heritage Act (H.R. 233). The bill, introduced by Congressman Mike Thompson (D-CA), designates more than 273,000 acres of northern California as wilderness and approximately 51,000 acres as a Recreation Management Area for off-highway vehicles and mountain bikes.

Congressmen Mike Thompson (D-CA), Bart Stupak (D-MI), Lee Terry (R-NE), and Sam Johnson (R-TX) introduced bipartisan legislation that would significantly increase the availability of telemedicine for all Americans. Currently about 80% of Americans do not have access to telemedicine facilities because of restrictions that limit funding for these types of facilities to rural areas.
