Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement regarding the Trump Administration’s indefinite freeze on critical federal funding:  

“It’s alarming that the Administration has taken action to indefinitely and indiscriminately freeze important federal funds. These funds were lawfully appropriated by Congress and are owed to the American people. In freezing them, the Administration has unleashed chaos on states, localities, American families, nonprofits, and businesses across our country.

Washington -- Today, Ranking Member of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Tax, Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA-04), and Chairman of the Ways & Means Subcommittee on Tax, Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA-16), announced the introduction of the Short Line Railroad Tax Credit Modernization Act, legislation that would make it easier to keep local rail lines operating and in good repair and improve commerce in communities nationwide.

Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) announced that the Department of Transportation has awarded a $4,160,000 federal grant to Yolo County to relocate and redesign a dangerous and congested railroad and roadway crossing north of Davis.

Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement regarding the Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Prevention of Underage Drinking’s (ICCPUD) release of a study on alcohol consumption intended to inform the 2025 Federal Dietary Guidelines:

“It’s concerning that the agencies in charge of researching and producing our updated dietary guidelines created a new, less transparent review process to issue alcohol consumption guidance to Americans.

Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) was once again named Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Tax Policy. This appointment was confirmed today by a vote of the full committee. 

“It's an honor to be reappointed to lead Democrats’ tax policy this Congress,” said Thompson. “As Ranking Member of the tax subcommittee, I will continue to work to ensure our tax code works for all Americans.

Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) announced that the Department of Transportation has awarded a $25,221,639 federal grant to the City of Dixon to construct a new “complete street” grade-separated railroad overcrossing at Parkway Boulevard.

Yesterday, Rep. Mike Thompson reintroduced the bipartisan Clergy Act with Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20). This bill would enable pastors and other clergy members—many of whom opted out of Social Security in their youth—to opt back into Social Security by establishing a one-time re-enrollment period.
