Representatives Mike Thompson (CA-5), John Garamendi (CA-3), Jared Huffman (CA-2), Anna Eshoo (CA-18) and Ami Bera (CA-7) today introduced H.R. 1025, the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Conservation Area Act of 2013. U.S. Senator Barbara (D-CA) introduced S.483 the companion bill in the Senate. The legislation would designate the 350,000 acre Berryessa Snow Mountain region as a National Conservation Area (NCA).

The bi-partisan legislation cosponsored by 4 other members of Congress allows active duty soldiers and veterans who serve honorably to expedite the citizenship of their family members and helps to protect them from deportation.

U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05), chairman of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, today with task force vice-chair Jackie Speier (CA-14) introduced H.R. 848, the Armed Prohibited Persons Act of 2013. This legislation will help states launch initiatives to remove guns from the hands of convicted criminals and the dangerously mentally ill.

Mike Thompson today released the following statement in response to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announcing that local air traffic control towers could be shut down because of sequestration. Towers at the Napa County Airport and the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport could be closed.
