Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) announced the introduction of the Renewable Energy Extension Act, a bipartisan bill to extend the energy investment tax credit (ITC) for five years to promote clean energy investment. This bill directs the Consumer Product Safety Commission to establish a standard requiring Flame Mitigation Devices to be used to prevent fire accidents.
Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05), a senior member of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health, announced that the full committee has advanced his legislation to ensure health care coverage for wounded veterans, the Health Equity and Access for Returning Troops and Servicemembers (HEARTS) Act. This bill corrects a flaw in our Medicare and TRICARE systems that imposes an undue financial penalty on wounded veterans who return to work.
Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to pass H.R. 3055, an appropriations bill that includes key priorities for California's Fifth Congressional District. Most notably, this legislation includes $2.25 billion in funding for fire suppression operations, a $25 million increase in funding for the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), and a prohibition on funds being used to include a citizenship question in the 2020 census. I'd like to welcome everyone to today's hearing on how the recently-enacted cap on the State and Local Tax Deduction is affecting communities, schools, first responders, and housing values.
The cap on the SALT deduction was one of the most divisive and controversial provisions arising from the deeply flawed and sloppy Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
