Santa Rosa – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) presented a $1.6 million check to Sonoma County to expand the Access Coordinated Care and Empowering Self Sufficiency (ACCESS) program. The funding will help vulnerable residents access the care they need to promote independence and reduce reliance on the social safety net.

This action comes following Rep. Thompson's efforts to call attention to ghost guns. Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that California is set to receive $125,309,027 from the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that Thompson helped pass expanded this program so more working families can have their homes retrofitted. WAP home retrofitting includes installing insulation, updating heating and cooling systems, upgrading electrical appliances, and making other common-sense changes to help fireproof homes.


March 31, 2022

Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) introduced legislation that would exempt delayed unemployment insurance payments received in 2021 from taxation. The American Rescue Plan exempted from taxation $10,200 of unemployment benefits paid in 2020, but due to delays at the California Employment Development Department (EDD), many taxpayers did not receive one or more payments until calendar year 2021, leading many constituents with an unfair tax liability on their 2022 returns.

Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to pass the Affordable Insulin Now Act to cap out-of-pocket costs of insulin at no more than $35 per month in Medicare Part D and commercial health insurance. This bill ensures vital and affordable access to life-saving medication for the more than 37 million people in the United States who have diabetes, including one-third of Medicare beneficiaries and the over 7 million Americans who rely on insulin to maintain their health and well-being.

Washington – Today, Reps. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) introduced bipartisan legislation to ensure that no fire survivors are taxed on the payments they received from the PG&E Fire Victims Trust. Following fires in 2015, 2017, and 2018, PG&E established a court-ordered trust of over $13 billion for survivors of these devastating events.
