Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) applauded the passage of the bipartisan PHONE Act, his legislation that allows survivors of natural disasters who lost their homes to keep their phone numbers at no cost to them while they rebuild. Often after homes are destroyed in natural disasters such as fires, the landline phone numbers need to be disconnected and if those numbers are offline too long, the service provider is required by law to reassign the phone number to other customers.
Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that his legislation, the Increase Federal Disaster Cost Share Act, was included in the Fiscal Year 2022 Homeland Security Funding Bill. Thompson's legislation would boost the Federal cost share from 75 to 90 percent for any federally declared disasters in 2020.

Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that his request for a Solano County safety project was included in the Fiscal Year 2022 funding package released by the Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies. That includes $900,000 for the Vallejo Police Department's Community Mental Health Response Unit Pilot Program to provide trauma-informed responses that will link residents to social services and reduce arrests. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that his request for a Contra Costa County health care project was included in the Fiscal Year 2022 funding packaged released by the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education. That includes $900,000 for the Contra Costa County Collaborative Care Implementation project to better train behavioral health staff and implement a standardized treatment model across the local Federally Qualified Health Centers. That includes $1 million for the rehabilitation and repair of Truett Hall at Touro University to allow the school to increase class sizes for their health care programs and better meet the medical needs of the community. Santa Rosa, CA – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that his requests for two Sonoma County health care projects were included in the Fiscal Year 2022 funding packaged released today by the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education. That includes $1.6 million for the Accessing Coordinated Care and Empowering Self Sufficiency (ACCESS) project and $1 million for Petaluma Health Center, Inc. to renovate the Rohnert Park health Center site. Napa – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) convened a virtual Child Tax Credit Roundtable to hear from local child advocates and parents about the benefits of the credit. The Child Tax Credit was significantly expanded in the American Rescue Plan which passed the House in March. It's a tax cut for most working parents that puts money in their pocket to pay for their family's needs.
