United States Interior Secretary Sally Jewell heard plenty of opinions Friday on a proposed Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument, but gave no hints as to what the idea's fate might be.

Jewell is a key figure in a regional effort to have President Barack Obama bestow national monument status on 350,000 acres of public lands, including those in eastern Napa County near Lake Berryessa. She sits on Obama's Cabinet.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) has introduced H.R. 5860, the bipartisan Small Business Healthcare Relief Act with Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana). This legislation fixes an existing Treasury Department guidance under the Affordable Care Act that limits the use of health reimbursement arrangements (HRA's) for small businesses, limiting choice and affordability for healthcare consumers.

President Barack Obama is poised to sign legislation from U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson, D-Napa, that would require security assessments of American oil refineries, including Valero Benicia Refinery, and railroad infrastructure, such as Union Pacific that has tracks through Benicia.

Austin Vevurka, Thompson's spokesperson, said Thursday that Thompson's legislation is part of House of Representatives Bill 4681, the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015.
