Washington – Today House Ways and Means Select Revenue Measures Subcommittee ChairmanRep. Mike Thompson (CA-05), Representative Tom Reed (NY-23) and Representative Bill Posey (FL-08), Co-Chair of the Congressional Motorsports Caucus, announced the introduction of the bipartisan Motorsports Fairness and Permanency Act, a bill that makes permanent the seven-year cost recovery period for motorsports entertainment complexes, giving these economic drivers the tax certainty needed to make long-term investments in safe racing environments.

Washington – Today House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05), Rep. Ken Calvert (CA-42), Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA), and Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) announced the reintroduction of the Earthquake Mitigation Incentive and Tax Parity Act, legislation that makes incentives for residential seismic retrofits tax-free at the federal level. This will help expand earthquake mitigation efforts and bring the federal policy in line with California state policy.

Washington – Today House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to advance several, bipartisan proposals out of the full Ways and Means Committee. Most notably, Thompson voted to advance the SECURE Act, legislation to expand retirement savings opportunities, and the Taxpayer First Act, a bill to modernize the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) so it better serves taxpayers. Washington – Today Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that a record 188 Members of Congress have signed his letter to appropriators requesting strong funding for the National Instant Background Checks System (NICS). Members from both parties are requesting $100 million in funding for grants to states to upgrade systems and other important maintenance of the system. Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05), Chair of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures and Rep. Mike Kelly (PA-16) announced the introduction of the Charitable Conservation Easement Program Integrity Act of 2019. This bill is designed to curb abuses of the conservation tax incentive program that allows taxpayers to take a charitable deduction when they donate lands for public use and conservation.
