Napa, CA – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY-21) introduced a bipartisan National Women's History Month Resolution. The legislation honors the history of women in our nation and recommits to the work of spotlighting the often untold stories of women. This bill also recognizes the roots of Women's History Month right in Thompson's own district.

Washington – Today Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) celebrated the passage of H.R. 8, his Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021. The bill would expand background checks to be required on all firearm sales, closing the gun show and online sales loopholes. Thompson is a gun owner, hunter and supporter of the Second Amendment. He's led the Task Force since it was established in 2012 after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School. A statement from Thompson is below.

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to pass H.R.1319, the final version of the American Rescue Plan, comprehensive COVID-19 relief legislation. This bill, first passed in the House last month, was amended by the Senate, came back to the House for a vote and now heads to President Biden's desk for signature. Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) and Rep. David McKinley (R-WV) announced the introduction of a bipartisan resolution designating March 3 as World Hearing Day. This resolution recognizes the importance of hearing to overall health and promotes awareness about preventing deafness and promoting hearing and ear care.

Washington – Today House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05), along with original cosponsors House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), and Representatives Fred Upton (R-MI), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), Christopher Smith (R-NJ), Robin Kelly (D-IL), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), and Lucy McBath (D-GA), announced the introduction of the H.R. 8, Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021. This landmark gun violence prevention legislation requires background checks on all firearm sales.

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to pass H.R. 1319, the American Rescue Plan, the sweeping health and economic relief plan offered by President Biden. Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to pass H.R. 5, the Equality Act, landmark legislation to ensure LGBTQ people are not discriminated against in education, housing, employment and other public accommodations. Under many state laws, LGBTQ individuals are still at risk of being fired, evicted or denied service because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. This bill, of which Thompson is an original coauthor, creates a national standard to prohibit such discrimination by amending the Civil Rights Act.

Napa, CA – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) led a Virtual Press Conference with local leaders from across California's Fifth Congressional District to highlight the importance of the $350 billion in state and local funding that was included in the American Rescue Plan. This funding would help keep first responders, frontline health workers and other essential service providers employed and safe on the job.

Washington – Today Chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue MeasuresRep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to advance certain measures of the American Rescue Plan through the Ways and Means Committee. Provisions under the jurisdiction of the committee will help boost the health care response to the pandemic and support workers, families and businesses that have been hit hard financially.
